What is CityBuild

CityBuild Academy is an 12 week pre-apprenticeship program that teaches and trains San Francisco residents about a number of construction trades. CityBuild Academy is not only a hands on course but has a rigorous academic schedule as well. Students enrolled in the course will have in-classroom and practical experience, giving them marketable skills and a competitive edge in the bustling construction industry.

Who is a CityBuild Partner?

CityBuild partnerships include but are not limited to: the Mayor’s Office of Economic Workforce and Development, Charity Cultural Services Center,APRI, Anders and Anders, Boyett, Cahill, DPR, Herrero-Boldt, Hathaway Dinwiddie, Millennium Partners, Webcor Builders, Swinerton Builders, Turner, and Townsend Management.

What is the CityBuild Curriculum?

The CityBuild program includes Construction Industry Orientation, Apprentice Structure, Math for Construction, Job Safety Training, Tool and Material Identification, Intro to Structural Steel and Ironwork, Framing, etc.

CityBuild changed my life and gave me a sense of purpose. I finally found a career that I love and feel passionate. The entire Mission Hiring Hall staff has helped me so much and I am so glad that I had their help every step of the way.

  • Requirements

    Age 18 or older

    California Drivers License

    High School Diploma or GED

    Ability to pass a drug test

    Proof of San Francisco Residency

    Basic skills test score of 8th grade level

    Ability to lift at least 70 lbs.
